12-14 century? Hmm. . . in America you say? “Roger Rangers and the French and Indian War,” “Flags of Our Fathers” (Note: Can be a little boring if you are not pure history) “The Hunt for Red October” – Tom KlansiNadyavam that helps. =)

Consideration should be author Ann Rinaldi, she wrote historical novels for young readers well as the middle school and high school level and her books cover all major events in history. Here are a few: The Secret of Sarah Revere (Revolutionary War) Familiar with Darkness (Civil War), a break with charity (Salem witch trials) And she has many others. Excellent writer and it is used by many classroom teachers, although obviously not yours.

James Michener comes to mind. Historical novels specialiy was his and no one is better. His books are quite long and can be much less for 12-14 yo crowd to swallow even though I think that can extracts. “Chesapeake” deals with the founding of the United States Other best of them are Hawaii and Alaska.
